Living on a sailing boat

There are many ways to live on a boat and places to be. At the moment I live on my boat in the Caribbean. Some choose to spend six months at a time, some year round with breaks to visit family and get a bit of Terra Firma now and again. I through fate ended up with nothing else in my world than my boat and here I am living the dream.

living

The actual ‘nuts and bolts’ of living within your new environment I would describe as living in a floating apartment with neighbors you can get away from. However within the boats confines everything has to be done in very special ways, washing-up, washing oneself,  and laundry come to mind.  Most choices are dictated by your wallet although I know a friend who bought a brand new boat and has been as busy as anyone else with ‘projects’; fixing this and fixing that. It’s a harsh living environment!

Skills required include a high degree of ‘time-management’ and self-discipline since your master is mother nature who challenges you and your boat everyday!

There is however an alternative to jumping in the deep-end and buying a boat and finding that living aboard is not your dream.

Come aboard Tropicbird and discover how I have been living on boats for the last twelve years. It may not be your ‘style’ and we may not have similar sized wallets but I am living my dream and will continue to do so. I must be doing something right if only for myself.

Island life

It’s sometimes hard work yet always rewarding. most mornings I wake to greet the new day with a list of things to do and a struggle to self-discipline myself to get as much dome as possible. At the end of the day I look at what I have achieved and reward myself for my achievements. my reward is to watch a movie and kick back, perhaps a bit of  ‘hammock time’!

There is nothing else in the world I would rather do!
